Exports of agro – forestry – fishery products in the first four months of 2017

 According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, estimated export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in April 2017 is 2.9 billion USD, bringing the total export value in the first 4 months of 2017 reached 10.8 billion USD, Up 9.1% over the same period in 2016.

In particular, the value of export of agricultural products from Vietnam is estimated at 5.8 billion USD, up 12% over the same period in 2016. The value of seafood export was estimated at USD 2.1 billion, rise by 8.2% over the same period of 2016. The export value of main forest products is estimated at $ 2.5 billion, up 12.1% over the same period in 2016.

Among agricultural products from Vietnam for export, vegetables and fruits rapidly increase in terms of export volume. Accordingly, in April 2017 export volume of agricultural products and vegetables will reach $ 313 million, with total estimate of $ 1 million, up 32.6% over the same period in 2016. China, the United States, Japan and South Korea are the four leading importers ofVietnamese fruits and vegetables, accounting for 82.9% of the total value of fruit and vegetable exports.

Tea is also a commodity with increasing export volume and value. Accordingly, the export volume of tea in April 2017 is estimated at 10 thousand tons with the value of $ 15 million, bringing the tea export volume in 4 months of 2017 is estimated at 38 thousand tons and 55 million USD, up 16.6% in volume and up 10.8% in value over the same period in 2016.

Among export agricultural products, coffee, rubber and cashew nuts dcreased in volume but increased in value in the first four months of the year. Accordingly, coffee export in the first 4 months of 2017 is estimated at 592 thousand tons and 1.34 billion USD, down 10.6% in volume but up 19.2% in value over the same period in 2016. Rubber export in the first four months of 2017 were estimated at 301 thousand tons and $ 611 million, down 5.4% in volume but up 66% in value over the same period in 2016. Exported cashew nut in April with a value of 220 million USD, bringing the volume of cashew exports in 4 months of 2017 is estimated at 79 thousand tons and 735 million USD, down 13.1% in volume but up 7% in value over the same period in 2016.

Rice declined in volume and value in the first four months. Accordingly, the volume of export rice in April 2017 is estimated at 573 thousand tons with the value of 269 million USD, bringing the volume of rice exports in 4 months of 2016 is estimated at 1.86 million tons and 834 million USD, down 7.7 % In volume and down 6.9% in value over the same period in 2016.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the import value of agriculture, forestry and fishery in April 2017 was estimated at USD 2.18 billion, bringing the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery imports in the first four months of the year 2017 is about $ 8.52 billion, an increase of 21.4% over the same period of 2016.
